Publicity

To make sure that our trailer was seen by a wide variety of audiences we made sure we created accounts on the social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.
We also have a Youtube account so people interested in our trailer can track our progress and view various videos we have made during the process.
We made use of the website Survey Monkey, this was to create a survey for our audience so they could give feedback to our ideas.
It is important that we made our trailer widespread, as it allows our audience to give an opinion on our trailer and so we can receive feedback which can help us to further improve our trailer.
We placed links to these sites on our website and blog so the audience can easily access information.

Final Website

This is our final website design, we used the website Wix.com as we felt this would be best and has the relevant tools we can use to create our website.

Final Website Design

We decided to do some further development on our website and changed a few things as well as worked on what we already had.

HOMEPAGE

For our homepage we chose to use an image, similar to the one we used on our poster so that continuity would occur. We used the Sepia colour filter as well as we did use this type of colour filter on the poster, and compliments the pink date to make it stand out. The colours of pink used, highlight that our target audience would be more female, however, it also helps the key iconic parts of the film such as the date of release stand out. We changed a few elements to help improve our homepage:

1) We changed the Font on the top left hand side to our iconic font that we are using in our poster and our trailer, to create more continuity.

2) We also added our trailer (which will be the finished one) onto the home page and selected an option so that it started automatically when the website came up, increasing our chances and views by people, as they are almost forced to watch it, because the music will start playing and catch them by surprise.

3) We changed the date heading from 'July 2013' to the date that shows on the poster and at the end of the trailer as well, just to create continuity again as they will recognise the numbers rather than the month we felt.

ABOUT

We did not need to change anything on the 'about' section, however if we were to develop the website further, then we would include more quotes and more information on there about the film itself.

GALLERY

We felt that a gallery would help our publicity and show some photos of the characters, which aren't used in our actual trailer. This makes the viewer feel more familiar and maybe more interested to watch it so they can find out about the character and her journey.

CAST

This last tab we felt would be good as it would give a small insight into the characters if someone was further curious after watching our trailer. It will help the viewers relate to characters as well before the film and may encourage people to watch the film more so they find out answers to some cliff-hanger questions that are given away in the bio's of the actors and characters.

Creating Our Website

We decided that we were going to use the website wix.com to create our website as this has the perfect features we wanted to include in ours. From looking at our previous website deconstructions, it is important that we clearly show what the website is about and the way that we market our film so that people would like to see it.

On the home page we wanted to use a clear picture of the protagonist and this helps the user realise what the story is about. We also edited the photo to a darker more monochrome tone as we felt this would depict the two options that she has to choose from and to the extent in which her life can change immediately - its either black or white.

This was our first draft:

Website Deconstruction 1- Kidulthood

It is useful to do website deconstructions as we will be making a website ourselves. We can see the conventions of a social realism film website and mimic the effective characteristics.

1) Effective quotes appear in the centre of the screen. Others include '"Brilliant". MTV'. These are useful to show the overall quality of the film and to persuade viewers to watch it.

2) This introduces the film and also advertises the following film 'adulthood'. The viewer can make the connection between the two films and it is obvious they are a continuing story.

3) The title is clear as it fills a huge space. It is spread along the top of the website and is eye-catching due to the white on black combination. The bold font makes it jump out at you. The inconsistency of the lower case 'i' gives the impression of uneducated characters.

4) This is another quote and almost works like a tag line. It leaves the audience in suspense as it is a rhetorical question. The use of the direct pronoun 'you've' includes the viewer and they feel personally connected.

5) The main character from the film takes up a lot of space on the websites homepage. His clothing and race make him prone to stereotypical thoughts before the audience has even seen the film. The mise-en-scene of the baseball bat adds to the idea that this film will be violent.

6) They use the website as an advertising strategy to sell the DVD. The image of the DVD box shows people exactly what it looks like and the features that come with the DVD.

7) The 'revolver entertainment' logo promotes that company but also shows who helped in the making of the film.

8) The menu at the bottom of the screen allows you to select from many different action. It shows where you can watch the trailer, download soundtracks etc.

9) This informs the audience of when the film is available to buy and corresponds with the big image of the DVD. The typography is the same for all the important messages making it easy to navigate around the page.

10) At the very bottom of the web page it shows the designers of the website, however it is not very important so it is in small font.

11) This is the selling point of the DVD. It is bragging about all the special features and bonus scenes to entice people to buy the DVD.
